Sec 2 Science EOY practice paper

The Sec 2 end-of-year examination is the main Science paper of the year. Yio Chu Kang Secondary’s 2025 and 2026 Sec 2 G3 papers, and St Andrew’s Secondary’s 2026 plan, list syllabus chapters 9–16: forces, heat, chemical changes, ecosystems, electrical systems, digestion, transport and human reproduction. Those are Chapters 1–8 on this site.

What’s tested

Sec 2 Chapters 1–8: forces and energy, heat transfer, chemical changes, ecosystems, electrical systems, the digestive system, transport in living things, and the human sexual reproductive system. A few schools also set some Sec 1 topics. This paper stays on the Sec 2 set.

Revision checklist

  • Practise resultant forces and pressure = force ÷ area.
  • Revise conduction, convection and radiation with one example of each.
  • Recall rusting, neutralisation, and how to tell a chemical change.
  • Read a food chain and predict what happens if one population changes.
  • Draw a series and a parallel circuit, and state what a fuse and an earth wire do.
  • Revise enzymes and absorption, xylem and blood, and where fertilisation happens.
  • Sit this paper in 1 hour 30 minutes, then mark it and redo the questions you lost marks on.

Exam tips

  • Spend about one and a half minutes per mark.
  • In a series circuit the current is the same all the way around.
  • Food-chain arrows point from food to feeder.
  • Name the organ and the job. “The body digests food” is too vague.

Questions about the EOY

What is the format of the Sec 2 Science EOY exam?

It varies by school. This practice paper has 20 multiple-choice questions (20 marks) and structured questions (40 marks), to be done in 1 hour 30 minutes.

Which chapters are in the Sec 2 EOY?

In the usual G2/G3 scheme the paper covers syllabus topics 9–16, shown here as Sec 2 Chapters 1–8. Yio Chu Kang Secondary’s Sec 2 G3 end-of-year information for 2025 and 2026 lists forces, heat, chemical changes, ecosystems, electrical systems, digestion, transport and reproduction. Bartley Secondary’s 2025 paper uses the same Sec 2 topics and also some earlier ones.

Does the Sec 2 EOY include Sec 1 topics?

Some schools do set a few Sec 1 topics again. This practice paper does not. Use the Sec 1 end-of-year paper if you need Chapters 1–8 of Sec 1.
